Application of Combined Structural Analysis And Field Instrumentation to the Design of Cable-bolting Reinforcemen

Abstract : We present here a computation code, established largely on the basis of realistic geometric modelling of natural fracturing in rock masses for improving the methods of assessing the stability of rock excavations and the design of their reinforcement by cable-bolting. In a seconde stage, a special device has been used to measure the variations and distribution of the stresses acting on the anchoring cables supporting the roof of a cut and fill stope in the Sotiel mine (Spain) as extraction has progressed. This has improved understanding of the way in wich the cables act.
